Railbus RA- 3 the new convenient and technological mobility project for unelectrified railways

The RA-3 is a new type of diesel railbus born form the collaboration between Italdesign – that contributed to the design of the interior – and Metrovagonmash, a subsidiary of Transmashholding, that engineered the units.

It is Italdesign solution for a perfect journey with a low passengers density on unelectrified railways .

With a modern design for interiors Railbus RA-3 is equipped with a passenger information system that displays data about the route and the train movements, and with video surveillance, air conditioning and energy-saving LED lighting. RA-3 railbuses are also easily accessible for disabled passengers.

The first units entered into service in August 2019 and now serves the routes of Central Suburban Passenger Company, the largest regional passenger carrier in Russia. The operator becomes the first to use the RA-3 railbus.
